Corrosion Resistance

The increase in zinc content makes c272 less expensive than other brasses, but also makes the alloy more susceptible to stress or cracking associated with dezincification - a process in which zinc dissolves from the alloy, leaving a less structurally strong material. Adding tin as an alloying agent can reduce the risk, and if such corrosion occurs, stress relief measures can be taken.
