Composition and Structural Properties of C72200 Nickel-nickel silver
C72200 nickel-nickel silver is an engineering alloy whose excellent properties are determined by its chemical composition and crystal structure. Its composition includes copper + alloying elements (Cu) ≥ 99.5%, copper + silver (Cu) + Ag ≥ 79.3%, nickel (Ni) (including Co) 15.0-18.0%, iron (Fe) 0.50-1.0%, chromium (Cr) 0.30-0.70%, lead (Pb) ≤ 0.05%, zinc (Zn) ≤ 1.0%, and manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.01. Its crystal structure is face-centered cubic, which provides excellent processing properties.
Physical and Mechanical Properties of C72200 Nickel-nickel Silver
Physical Properties: Resistivity 1.75×10-8 Ω·m, room temperature sound velocity 3810 m/s, density approximately 8.91 g/cm³, and a melting point higher than that of pure copper.
Mechanical Properties: Young's modulus 110-128 GPa, shear modulus 48 GPa, Poisson's ratio 0.34, Mohs hardness 3.0, Vickers hardness 343–369 MPa, Brinell hardness 235–878 MPa, tensile strength 450-700 MPa, yield strength 250-400 MPa, elongation exceeding 20%.
Processing and Applications of C72200 Nickel-White Copper
Processing Characteristics: Excellent cold and hot workability. Heat treatment requires heating the casting to 375°C (Note: the original text "3752°C" may be a typo), holding the temperature, and then cooling it in water for solution treatment to improve weldability.
Applications
Marine Engineering: Seawater cooling heat exchangers, marine product pipelines, ship hulls, and underwater components.
Chemical and Energy: Pickling plant heating pipes and vessels, acid gas pipelines, oil refining air heat exchangers, and flame-retardant alloys for high-pressure oxygen applications. Others: Food engineering, high-performance connectors and sockets in the electrical and electronic fields, etc.
