What is H62 brass?

H62 environmentally friendly brass strip is a brass alloy material with copper and zinc as the main components. The copper content is 60.5%~63.5%, with zinc as the balance, iron ≤0.15%, and lead ≤0.08%, conforming to GB/T 2059-2000 standard. This material has good mechanical properties, excellent plasticity in the hot state (650~850℃), and can be deeply drawn in the cold state. It also has good machinability, weldability, and resistance to general corrosion. Physical states include soft, semi-hard, hard, and O-state.

High-precision strips with a thickness ≥0.05mm can be produced, with specifications covering a thickness range of 0.15~3mm, and slitting is supported. Performance is optimized through annealing (600~700℃), making it suitable for manufacturing load-bearing parts such as pins, rivets, washers, nuts, and pressure gauge springs. It is used in electrical and electronic applications, marine equipment, radiator components, and other heat and electricity conductive applications.

H62 Brass Material Properties

1. Physical Properties

H62 brass exhibits the following physical characteristics:

Density: ~8.5 g/cm³

Thermal Conductivity: ~120 W/m·K

Electrical Conductivity: ~27% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard)

2. Mechanical Properties

H62 brass offers a combination of strength, ductility, and machinability. Its mechanical properties include:

Tensile Strength: 372–540 MPa

Yield Strength: 250–360 MPa

Elongation: ≥30% (depending on processing state)

Hardness: 85–120 Vickers (strip)

3. Processing Properties

Hot Working Temperature: 650–850°C

Annealing Temperature: 520–650°C

Cold Working: Excellent plasticity, suitable for bending, drawing, and stamping.

Machinability: Moderate (not as high as free-cutting brasses like 360 brass).

Weldability: Good brazing and welding performance.

Applications of H62 Brass

Due to its great mechanical properties, Brass H62 is often used for creating fittings, valves and parts in plumbing and heating systems. I've observed how it easily turns into exact shapes, ideal for precise needs. When finding materials for work, knowing H62 brass suits our aims brings me comfort.
