I. Material Properties
1. Thermodynamic Performance

Copper's thermal conductivity reaches 401 W/(m·K), significantly higher than common metals like stainless steel, enabling rapid heat transfer and uniform temperature distribution. This property makes it an irreplaceable advantage in heat exchange systems requiring fast response times.

2. Chemical Stability Analysis

The dense oxide film formed on the copper surface effectively resists corrosion in water with a pH range of 5.5-12 and maintains excellent corrosion resistance even in operating conditions with chloride ion concentrations ≤ 2 mg/L. Experimental data shows that the annual corrosion rate of copper pipes in circulating water systems does not exceed 0.002 mm.

3. High-Temperature Oxidation Resistance

Under continuous operating temperatures ≤150°C, the Cu2O protective layer formed on the copper surface effectively prevents further oxidation, resulting in an oxidation weight gain rate 2-3 orders of magnitude lower than that of carbon steel.

II. Key points of engineering application
1. System design and installation specifications
(1) It is recommended to install a filter with a mesh size of 40 or above to prevent the deposition of solid particles
(2) Insulating gaskets must be used when connecting dissimilar metals to avoid galvanic corrosion
(3) The pipeline slope should be maintained at ≥0.3% to ensure thorough drainage
2. Operation and maintenance requirements
(1) The temperature difference between the inlet and outlet water should be tested monthly. Cleaning should be carried out when the temperature difference exceeds the design value by 15%
(2) Softened water with a pH value of 7-8.5 is recommended as the medium
(3) Cleaning agents containing sulfur and ammonia are prohibited during chemical cleaning
3. Performance Monitoring Standards

(1) Measure the pipe wall thickness every quarter. If the annual thinning amount is greater than 0.1mm, an early warning is required.

(2) Perform eddy current testing regularly. If a wall thickness defect of ≥10% is found, the pipe should be replaced.

(3) Professional maintenance is required if the heat transfer coefficient drops by more than 20%.

Through scientific selection and design and standardized operation and maintenance management, copper heat exchange equipment can operate stably for more than 15 years, and its full life cycle cost is 30%-40% lower than that of ordinary steel equipment.
