Material Overview and Standard System
C12200 (also known as TP2 or DHP copper) is a phosphorus-deoxidized high-purity copper alloy. By adding trace amounts of phosphorus (0.013%–0.050%), it achieves deep deoxidation, completely eliminating the risk of hydrogen disease associated with traditional copper materials (no cracking in reducing atmospheres). Its internationally recognized grades include:
ASTM Standard: C12200 (American Standard)
JIS Standard: C1220 (Japanese Standard)
GB Standard: TP2 (National Standard)
This material, with its high purity (Cu+Ag≥99.85%), combines excellent thermal conductivity, weldability, and corrosion resistance. It is primarily supplied in tubes (accounting for over 70% of applications), followed by plates, strips, rods, and wires.

Core performance characteristics
(1) Physical properties
Electrical conductivity: 85–92% IACS (the increase in phosphorus content results in slightly lower electrical conductivity than pure copper);
Thermal conductivity: 340–375 W/(m·K), suitable for heat exchange systems;
Coefficient of thermal expansion: 17.2×10⁻⁶/℃ (20–300℃), compatible with most metals;
Density: 8.94 g/cm³, close to pure copper.
(2) Special performance advantages
No tendency to hydrogen disease: Blocking the diffusion of hydrogen atoms through phosphorus deoxidation, passing the ASTM B154 mercurous nitrate test;
Excellent welding performance: Brazing wetted area is 25% higher than pure copper (C11000), compatible with laser welding and high-frequency induction welding;
Corrosion resistance: Resistant to air, fresh water and non-oxidizing media, but acidic environments (such as those containing ammonia and chlorides) must be avoided.
Application fields and typical cases
(1) Heat exchange system
HVAC: refrigeration seamless copper tube (compliant with EN 12735), accounting for 40% of global supply;
New energy equipment: photovoltaic inverter liquid cooling pipes, fuel cell bipolar plates (thermal conductivity ≥ 340 W/(m·K));
Chemical equipment: sulfuric acid cooler coils (resistant to non-oxidizing acid corrosion).
(2) Building and energy pipelines
Water supply system: drinking water pipes (pass NSF/ANSI 61 sanitary standards);
Gas transmission: high-pressure gas pipes (ASME B16.22 flange connection certification);
Capillary network heating: radiant heating system (annual growth rate of 25%, green building LEED certification).
(3) Transportation and electronics industry
Automotive parts: brake oil pipes, radiators, electronic connectors (high bending fatigue resistance);
Shipbuilding: seawater desalination device heat transfer pipes (seawater corrosion resistance);
Electrical components: relay springs, lead frames (conductivity 80% IACS balanced strength).
