What is C11000 copper?
C110 copper is also known as "electrolytic tough pitch" or ETP copper. It has a minimum conductivity rating of 100% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard). This makes it popular in applications where electrical conductivity is paramount, such as electrical wiring and connectors. It also has high ductility, making it easy to shape into any desired form.
What grade of copper is C11000?
C11000 is the standard commercial-grade, high-conductivity copper. More specifically, it is classified as Electrolytic Tough Pitch (ETP) Copper.
Here are the defining characteristics of this grade:
Purity: It has a minimum copper content of 99.90%, making it commercially pure.
Key Identifier: Its defining feature is a controlled, small amount of oxygen (0.02% to 0.04%), which gives it the "Tough Pitch" name and improves its castability.
Primary Property: It is the benchmark for electrical and thermal conductivity, rated at 100% on the International Annealed Copper Standard (IACS).
Common Name: It is universally known as ETP copper and is the most widely used and readily available copper grade worldwide for general electrical and thermal applications.
Physical Properties

Fabrication Properties
The fabrication properties of C11000 include:
Machining
The machinability rating of C11000 is 20%.
Welding
Soldering, brazing, gas shielded arc welding, oxyacetylene welding and butt welding are recommended for C11000 copper. Other welding techniques such as coated metal arc welding, spot welding and seam welding are not recommended.
Forging
C11000 copper is forged at hot working temperatures from 760 to 871 degrees Celsius. The hot forgeability rate of this metal is 65%.
Hot working
C11000 copper has excellent hot working property.
Cold working
C11000 copper has excellent cold working property.
Annealing
Annealing C11000 occur at temperatures from 371 to 648 degrees Celsius.
Corrosion Resistance
One of the most unique properties of C11000 copper alloys is its resistance to corrosion.
C11000 has excellent corrosion resistance to weathering and very good resistance to many chemicals. This copper alloy is suitable for use with most waters and can be used underground because it resists soil corrosion. C11000 also resists non-oxidizing mineral and organic acids, caustic solutions and saline solutions.
Copper generally resists:
Mineral acids
Organic acids
Carbolic, citric, Formica, oxalic, tartaric, and fatty acids
Solutions constraint sulfur
Solutions used in pulp mills
Alkaline fused with sodium
Salt solutions
Water, all potable waters
Typical Uses
Electrical
Terminals, switches, radio parts, contacts, trolley wire, magnet wire, busbars, terminal connectors, conductors, electrical stranded conductors wire.
Industrial
Printing rolls, chimney cap screens, heat exchangers, anodes, kettles, chlorine cells, rotating bands, road bed expansion plates, vats, pressure vessels, chemical process equipment, pans.
