FAQ

Q1: What is the actual tensile strength of C71500 pipe, not just the minimum?
Typically 420-480 MPa (61-70 ksi). Our mill average is 450 MPa. Minimum is 380 MPa per ASTM B111.

Q2: Does C71500 pipe meet NACE MR0175 for sour service?
Yes, but check the specific requirements. C71500 is generally accepted for sour service up to certain H₂S partial pressures. Request our NACE certification if needed.

Q3: What is the wall thickness tolerance on a 13 BWG pipe?
±10% of 0.095″ = ±0.0095″. Minimum acceptable wall is 0.0855″. Maximum is 0.1045″.

Q4: Can you provide a certified mill test report with actual chemistry and tensile results?
Yes, for every heat number. We email scanned MTR before shipment. It shows actual test results, not just minimums.

Q5: What is the density of C71500 in lb/in³ for weight calculations?
0.323 lb/in³. Multiply pipe volume (in³) by 0.323 to get weight in pounds.

Q6: Is C71500 magnetic?
No. Magnetic permeability is less than 1.01. If your pipe is magnetic, it is not C71500 – possibly iron contamination or wrong alloy.

Q7: How much longer does C71500 last than C70600 in seawater?
Depending on conditions, 5-15 years longer. C71500 has higher nickel content (30% vs 10%) and better corrosion resistance, especially at higher velocity and temperature.

Q8: What is the maximum pressure for 1" 13 BWG C71500 pipe?
Depends on temperature. At 50°C, approximately 2,500 psi working pressure. At 100°C, derate to about 1,800 psi. Use ASME B31.1 or B31.3 for exact calculations.

Q9: Do you stock metric sizes (OD in mm) for C71500 pipe?
Yes, for export orders. Common metric ODs: 19.05mm (3/4″ equivalent), 25.4mm (1″), 50.8mm (2″), 101.6mm (4″). Tell us your required OD and wall in mm.

Q10: Can you produce C71500 pipe with EN 12451 CuNi30Mn1Fe certification?
Yes, but extra cost and longer lead time. We produce to ASTM B111 and provide MTR. For EN 12451 certification, we work with third-party inspectors to issue conformity certificates.
