Products Description
As a leading supplier of copper-nickel alloys, GNEE offers a wide range of ASTM B111 C71500 (70/30) copper-nickel alloys, including plates, bars, tubes, fittings, and flanges. This copper-nickel alloy is known for its moderate strength, good machinability, formability, and weldability. C715 copper alloy is also known as 70/30 copper-nickel alloy because it contains 30% nickel. C715 copper-nickel alloy is most commonly used in high-temperature, high-pressure, high-flow-rate, and highly destructive turbulent environments. Its extremely low iron content (maximum 0.5%) gives C715 alloy excellent corrosion resistance and resistance to stress corrosion cracking, making it an ideal choice for marine and industrial applications.

Analysis of Machining Processes for SB 111 C71500
Cold Working and Hot Working
SB111 C71500 alloy can be both cold-worked and hot-worked, and is easily machined into various shapes. Cold working is typically used to increase the material's hardness and reduce ductility; generally, when a cold working rate of over 90% is achieved, the hardness can be increased to approximately 130 HV.
Hot working is usually performed within a temperature range of 930-1030℃. It is important to note that excessively high temperatures may cause grain growth, thereby reducing the material's mechanical properties. Therefore, temperature control during processing is crucial.
Welding Performance
C71500 copper-nickel alloy exhibits good weldability and can be subjected to conventional welding processes such as TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding. During welding, appropriate welding wire should be used to avoid degradation of the corrosion resistance of the weld zone. Appropriate post-weld heat treatment is recommended to further improve the mechanical properties of the welded area.
Work Hardening
70/30 copper-nickel pipe undergoes significant work hardening during cold working; its hardness and strength increase with the amount of cold working. Therefore, in practical applications, the hardness of the material can be adjusted by controlling the amount of cold working to meet the mechanical property requirements of different applications.
C71500 Copper-Nickel (70/30 CuNi) Tube FAQ
Q: What is C71500 copper-nickel?
A: C71500 is a copper-nickel alloy containing approximately 70% copper and 30% nickel, with small additions of iron and manganese. It is known for its exceptional corrosion resistance in seawater and marine environments.
Q: Why is C71500 so resistant to seawater corrosion?
A: The 30% nickel content allows it to form a tight, stable, protective oxide film that is highly resistant to corrosion, biofouling, and erosion from high-velocity water.
Q: What is the common name for C71500?
A: It is commonly referred to as 70/30 CuNi or 70/30 copper-nickel.
Q: Where is C71500 tube most commonly used?
A: It is the premium choice for seawater-cooled heat exchangers and condensers in power plants, naval and commercial ships, offshore platforms, and desalination plants.
Q: When should I choose C71500 over C70600?
A: Choose C71500 for critical, high-reliability systems with high flow velocities, elevated temperatures, or where maximum service life and minimal downtime are required, and budget is secondary.
