Types and Characteristics of Brass Wire

H96 brass is composed of 96% copper and 4% zinc. It exhibits good cold and hot workability, making it suitable for processing methods such as extrusion, rolling, stamping, drawing, and forging. It is easy to weld and tin-plate and shows high corrosion resistance in atmospheric and freshwater environments with no tendency for stress corrosion cracking. H96 brass is commonly used in currency, commemorative items, badges, detonators, cartridge cases, enamel bases, waveguides, heat dissipation tubes/fins, and conductive components.

H90 brass consists of 90% copper and 10% zinc. It possesses good mechanical properties and excellent cold and hot workability, similar to H96. Additionally, H90 brass is suitable for upsetting, engraving, and hot forging, with good corrosion resistance and the ability to be gold-plated or enamel-coated. It is typically used in decorative items, medals, ship components, rivets, waveguides, water tank strips, battery caps, water pipes, and for manufacturing bimetallic materials.

H85 brass is composed of 85% copper and 15% zinc. It offers balanced mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, with excellent cold workability and good hot formability. H85 brass is widely used in architectural decoration, badges, bellows, serpentine tubes, water pipes, condenser and heat exchanger tubes, and cooling equipment components.

H70 brass consists of 70% copper and 30% zinc. It exhibits high plasticity and strength, good cold formability, ease of welding, and good corrosion resistance. However, it is highly sensitive to stress corrosion cracking in ammonia atmospheres. H70 brass is widely used in signs, labels, relief works, battery caps, musical instruments, flexible hoses, pump pipes, bellows, and building supplies.

H68 brass is composed of 68% copper and 32% zinc. It demonstrates good plasticity and high strength, excellent machinability, ease of welding, corrosion resistance, and good cold and hot workability. H68 brass is widely used in various cold-stamped parts, radiator housings, bellows, waveguides, doors, and lighting fixtures.

H65 brass consists of 65% copper and 35% zinc. It offers sufficient mechanical and processing properties, good cold and hot workability, and a golden-yellow appearance. It is widely used in various hardware products, lighting fixtures, pipe fittings, zippers, plaques, rivets, springs, and settling filters.

H63 brass is composed of 63% copper and 37% zinc. It provides adequate mechanical properties and good hot workability, with average corrosion resistance. H63 brass is primarily used in the form of rods for shallow-stamped parts, sugar industry and marine pipe fittings, and gaskets.

H62 brass consists of 62% copper and 38% zinc. It exhibits high strength, good hot plasticity, ease of welding, and good corrosion resistance. However, it is prone to dezincification and stress cracking under certain conditions. It is used in various pins, nuts, washers, waveguides, heat dissipators, components for the sugar, shipbuilding, and paper industries.
