UNS C44300 Admiralty Brass Tube PDF
What's Admiralty Brass?
Admiralty brass is a type of brass with a 70% copper, 29% zinc, and 1% tin composition. Brass is available in more than 40 standard grades, with zinc contents ranging from 5 to 40%. Tin can dissolve in brass in a variety of ways. Brass can become stronger and harder with a tiny quantity of tin solid solution added, but when the amount is greater than 1%–5%, the plasticity is reduced. With the inclusion of alloying elements like Tin, Arsenic, Manganese, Aluminum, Silicon, and Lead, which are typically less than 5%, brass is a copper-zinc alloy. These additional components improve the overall alloy qualities, making the substance perfect for particular application areas.
Tin was added because it has more corrosion resistance in seawater, which is why. Admiralty Brass is often known as "admiralty bras" because of its excellent corrosion resistance and particular applicability in freshwater, salty, or brackish water.
Uses & Application of Brass
Admiralty brass is offered in sheets & tube form. Admiralty Brass tubes are used specifically for vapour condensers that are cooled with fresh, salt, or brackish water because they offer exceptional corrosion resistance. In oil refineries, thermal equipment, and other industrial operations, they are typically employed as condenser tubes, evaporator and heat exchanger tubes, distiller tubes, and distiller tubing. The petrochemical sector, shipbuilding, power plants, desalination plants, etc. use Admiralty Brass, one of the most widely used brass alloys in their family, primarily in condenser and heat exchanger applications.

Types & Variations of Brass
Admiralty brass is available in three varieties, designated by the UNS numbers C44300, C44400, and C44500 by the American Society for Testing Materials (previously used destinations are type B, type C, and type D in turn). While there is a slight variation in the amounts of arsenic, antimony, and phosphorus, their copper content of them varies from 70% to 73%. In the absence of a stated temper, copper alloy UNS C44300, C44400, and C44500 tubes must be supplied in the annealed O61 temper.
