Alloy Composition
Copper (Cu): Typically around 80%, it serves as the alloy's matrix element, providing excellent thermal and electrical conductivity while ensuring a certain degree of toughness.
Aluminum (Al): 6% to 8% of the alloy's content is the core strengthening element of C61400. The combination of aluminum and copper significantly enhances the alloy's strength and hardness, while maintaining good structural stability at high temperatures.
Iron (Fe): Typically between 2% and 3%. Iron forms an alloy-strengthening phase with aluminum, further enhancing the material's wear resistance and tensile strength.
Other trace elements, such as manganese (Mn) and nickel (Ni), contribute to grain refinement, improving corrosion resistance, and overall mechanical properties.
Mechanical Properties
High Strength and Hardness: Compared to ordinary bronze, C61400 aluminum bronze offers significant advantages in strength and hardness, with tensile strength often reaching 450 to 600 MPa. Excellent wear and seizure resistance: Aluminum, iron, and other strengthening elements prevent the surface from severe wear and damage in abrasive environments.
Good toughness and fatigue resistance: Maintaining stable mechanical properties under harsh conditions such as high temperature and vibration, its fatigue resistance makes it crucial for aerospace applications.
Physical and Chemical Properties
Stable high-temperature performance: C61400 aluminum bronze maintains good mechanical strength and wear resistance even in medium- and high-temperature environments (above 300°C).
Corrosion resistance: Excellent corrosion resistance to seawater, air, and some chemical environments is crucial for spacecraft operating in diverse environments.
