ASTM B111 C70600 Copper-Nickel Seamless Marine Condenser Tubes

What Is C70600

ASME SB111 and SB466 C70600 pipe, EEMUA 234 UNS 7060X copper-nickel alloy is resistant to seawater corrosion and exhibits excellent resistance to marine microbial contamination. It is widely used in offshore and related industries, including shipbuilding and repair, petrochemicals, and natural gas. C70600 copper-nickel 90/10 seamless pipe offers excellent corrosion resistance, especially in seawater.

Heat Treatment and Working

UNS C70600 is annealed at temperatures between 593 and 816 degrees C. The alloy exhibits good cold working properties and is suitable for high-temperature applications, with a recommended maximum continuous service temperature of about 400 degrees C.

Chemical Composition

The composition limits are nickel 9.0 to 11.0 percent, iron 1.0 to 1.8 percent, manganese 1.0 percent maximum, carbon 0.05 percent maximum, lead 0.02 percent, phosphorus 0.02 percent, sulfur 0.02 percent, zinc 0.50 percent, with copper as balance and copper plus nickel, iron, and manganese at least 99.5 percent.

International Equivalents

C70600 corresponds to GB/T 8890 BFe10-1-1, BS 2871 CN102, JIS H3300 C7060, and DIN 1785 CuNi10Fe1Mn in international designation systems, simplifying global procurement.

Applications

C70600 is suitable for applications where chloride stress corrosion cracking precludes the use of stainless steel and for components requiring high corrosion resistance. The 90/10 and 70/30 copper-nickel alloys are suitable for marine condensers, seawater condenser systems, heating and water supply, the chemical industry, and desalination plants. Common tube sizes range from 8 mm to 457 mm outer diameter with wall thicknesses from 1 to 4.5 mm.
