Key features and alias of ASTM B111 C23000 copper pipe
Golden color: A lighter, brighter lemon-gold or pale golden color than C22000. This is its distinctive appearance.
Excellent corrosion resistance: It performs particularly well in condensate and steam environments. It offers good resistance to freshwater, seawater (relatively better), atmospheric air, and many industrial environments. Its resistance to dezincification corrosion is better than that of higher-zinc brasses such as C26000.
Cold workability: It offers good ductility and formability (bending and deep drawing), but is slightly harder than C21000/C22000.
Hot workability: Excellent! This is a key advantage of C23000, making it well-suited for processes such as hot extrusion and hot forging. Good strength and hardness: Higher than C21000 and C22000 (the higher zinc content provides solid solution strengthening).
Good brazing and welding properties: Easy to join.
Electrical and thermal conductivity: Lower electrical conductivity than high-copper alloys and C21000/C22000, but still good thermal conductivity.
Extremely low lead content: Suitable for applications requiring lead-free (such as drinking water systems and food contact).

Common alternative names for ASTM B111 C23000 copper tubing:
Red Brass: This is its most common name. Although golden in color, the name stems from its historical use in plumbing applications (to distinguish it from lead-containing "brass" fittings) and its greater corrosion resistance than higher-zinc "brass." Note: Some standards/regions may refer to alloys containing small amounts of tin (~2%) (such as C83600/C84400) as "red brass" or "red copper." Be aware of this distinction.
Key Applications of C23000 Brass (Based on Corrosion Resistance, Color, and Workability)
Condenser and Heat Exchanger Tubing: This is C23000's most classic and important application! It's widely used in condensers, evaporators, coolers, and heater tubes in power plants, ships, chemical equipment, and more. Its excellent resistance to condensate/steam corrosion is key.
Architectural Decoration: Roofs, gutters, moldings, and curtain walls (its lemon-gold color and weather resistance are advantages).
Hardware: Door handles, locks, hinges, and bathroom accessories (color and corrosion resistance).
Musical Instrument Parts: Pistons and tubes for wind instruments (such as trumpets and trombones) (requiring excellent acoustic properties, workability, and corrosion resistance).
Heat Exchanger Parts: Components other than tubes.
Deep-Drawn and Flown Parts: Lighting fixtures and decorative containers (excellent cold formability).
Marine Applications: Seawater piping fittings, porthole frames, and more (excellent seawater corrosion resistance). Medals, souvenirs, plaques: Take advantage of its unique lemon gold color.
