C14200 Copper Alloy Performance Analysis
ASTM B111 C14200 soft copper tubing is a Cu-Fe-P high-conductivity copper alloy. It achieves a balanced performance through precisely controlled Fe (0.05-0.15%) and P (0.01-0.05%) contents. It is designed to balance high conductivity with moderate strength, making it suitable for applications requiring high overall material performance.
Core Performance
Conductivity: 93-95% IACS conductivity, close to pure copper (97-102% IACS), while significantly improving strength, surpassing C11000 pure copper.
Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength ≥350 MPa, yield strength ≥200 MPa, elongation >30%, and supports complex processing such as stamping and bending.
Corrosion Resistance: A dense oxide film forms on the surface, exhibiting no corrosion in a neutral salt spray test (500 hours), making it suitable for humid and salt spray environments.
Thermal Stability: Softening temperature > 350°C, conductivity retention > 85% at high temperatures, superior to brass (softening temperature < 250°C).
Processability: Can be rolled down to ultra-thin strips as thin as 0.2mm, compatible with laser cutting, etching, and resistance welding, and suitable for automated production.

Performance Comparison
vs. C11000 pure copper: Sacrifices 2-4% conductivity in exchange for a 50% increase in strength and improved stress relaxation resistance.
vs. C26800 brass: Doubles conductivity, similar strength, but significantly enhanced corrosion resistance.
Typical Applications of ASTM B111 C14200 Flexible Copper Pipe
New Energy Vehicles: Battery module busbars (current density > 6A/mm²), motor winding terminals (resistance to vibration fatigue).
Electronics: Power semiconductor lead frames (better heat dissipation than FR-4 substrates), high-frequency connector springs (low signal loss).
Industrial sensors: Conductive layers for flexible circuit boards (bend radius <2mm), strain gauge substrates (temperature coefficient <0.003/°C).
Technical advantages of ASTM B111 C14200 type l copper:
Cost-effectiveness: 60% lower than beryllium copper (C17200), with similar conductivity but without the toxicity risk.
Process adaptability: Hardness can be adjusted (HV100-160) through heat treatment (annealing) to accommodate various molding requirements.
C14200 represents a representative high-conductivity copper alloy with the best balance of conductivity, strength, and cost. It is particularly suitable for applications requiring both current-carrying capacity and mechanical reliability, such as automotive electronics, power devices, and precision sensors.
