Copper wire is a linear conductor primarily made of copper, offering the second-highest electrical conductivity after silver at a lower cost, making it a core material for power transmission and electronic devices. In modern industry, copper wire can be drawn to micrometer-level diameters due to its high ductility, meeting diverse application requirements. Based on purity, it can be categorized into oxygen-free copper (OFC), low-oxygen copper, and other types. Oxygen-free copper, with minimal impurities and superior conductivity stability, is widely used in precision electronic components. As of 2023, GNEE has established two major copper wire production systems-pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy-with quality assurance through cross-sectional analysis and instrumental testing.
Types of Copper Wires Offered by GNEE
Solid Copper Wire
Solid copper wire is made by drawing a single pure copper rod, featuring a uniform cross-section and high mechanical strength. Its advantages include excellent conductivity (second only to silver), strong corrosion resistance, and ease of processing. It is primarily used in residential wiring, transformer windings, electronic component leads, and power transmission, making it ideal for applications requiring stable current and low resistance.

Stranded Copper Wire
Stranded copper wire consists of multiple thin copper strands twisted together, offering greater flexibility, bend resistance, and fatigue resistance compared to solid wire. Its key benefits include high adaptability to dynamic environments and optimized high-frequency current transmission via the skin effect. Common applications include appliance connectors, automotive harnesses, robotic cables, and headphone wires.
Copper-Clad Steel (CCS) Wire
CCS wire has a steel core coated with a copper layer, combining copper's conductivity with steel's mechanical strength. Advantages include cost efficiency, high tensile strength, and corrosion resistance, though its conductivity is slightly lower than pure copper. Typical uses include overhead power lines, railway catenary systems, communication cables, and outdoor installations requiring a balance of strength and conductivity.

Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity (OFHC) Copper Wire
OFHC wire is produced by removing oxygen impurities (≤0.001% oxygen content), achieving ultra-high conductivity (≥101% IACS) and thermal stability. Its low resistance and resistance to hydrogen embrittlement make it suitable for high-temperature and high-precision environments. Applications include superconducting devices, vacuum tubes, high-fidelity audio cables, and semiconductor lead frames.
Beryllium Copper (BeCu) Wire
BeCu wire is a copper alloy containing 0.5–3% beryllium, with heat-treated strength comparable to steel. It offers exceptional elasticity, wear resistance, fatigue resistance, and spark-proof properties while retaining over 80% conductivity. It is commonly used in precision springs, relay contacts, explosion-proof tools, and aerospace connectors.

Copper Alloy Wire (e.g., Brass, Phosphor Bronze)
Copper alloy wires incorporate elements like zinc, tin, or phosphorus to enhance performance. For example, brass wire (copper-zinc alloy) resists corrosion, while phosphor bronze wire excels in elasticity. These alloys provide tailored properties for conductivity, strength, or harsh environments. Applications include musical instrument strings, desalination equipment, electronic socket contacts, and decorative materials.
Tin-Plated Copper Wire
Tin-plated copper wire features a tin-coated surface, offering oxidation resistance and improved solderability. Benefits include saltwater corrosion resistance, ease of soldering, and prevention of copper oxidation (patina). It is widely used in marine cables, PCB jumpers, wire harness terminals, and food industry equipment wiring.
