Copper oxidation method: 1. Copper will form copper oxide when heated. If the ambient temperature is very high at this time, copper oxide will be converted into cuprous oxide and O2 under continuous high temperature environment. When copper is heated, it will react with oxygen in the air to form gray-black copper oxide. When copper is heated, it will turn bright red, blocking O2 heating and turning bright red. When heated in the air, it will turn gray-black (oxidized and blackened). 3. Insufficient gold plating thickness or plating shedding, high-temperature oxidation, or long storage time of the plug-in or long pre-drying time of the plug-in, coupled with atmospheric humidity, surface pollution, impurities and water vapor in the natural environment, etc., will cause copper oxidation.
Causes of copper oxidation: 1. It is possible that the copper inlay is not thoroughly cleaned before gold plating, and black scratches appear on the surface. This is the cuprous salt produced after oxidation loses an electron. 2. It may also be due to untimely and incomplete cleaning, or poor processing technology, and residual water stains, cleaning fluid, copper element and oxygen in the air will undergo electrochemical corrosion to form black cuprous, and in severe cases, all of them will be emerald green salt. 3. It may also be due to insufficient gold plating thickness or plating shedding, high-temperature oxidation, or long storage and pre-drying time of inlays. In addition, atmospheric humidity, surface pollution, impurities in the natural environment, water vapor, etc. can cause copper oxidation.
The critical value of copper oxidation is generally between 45% and 60% of the ambient humidity. Copper is isolated from air: Under the same conditions, the relative content of saturated water vapor in the atmosphere is called air humidity. Below a certain air humidity, the oxidation and fading speed of copper is relatively slow. When it exceeds this air humidity, the oxidation and fading speed will suddenly accelerate. This air humidity is called critical ambient humidity. Air humidity has a significant effect on the oxidation and discoloration of copper. When the atmospheric humidity exceeds the critical value of ambient humidity, shrinkage or water droplets will appear on the surface of copper.
