What is the TP1/C12000 Pancake Coil?

TP1 phosphorus-deoxidized copper is a low-residual-phosphorus oxygen-free copper material with higher electrical and thermal conductivity compared to TP2. It exhibits excellent welding performance and cold bending properties, with no tendency for "hydrogen embrittlement" when processed or used in reducing atmospheres. The material is primarily used in tube form but can also be processed into plates, strips, bars, or wires. It is widely employed in manufacturing gasoline/gas pipelines, condensers, heat exchangers, drainage pipes, submarine mine tubes, railway carriage components, and other equipment.
Application of TP1/C12000 Copper in Refrigerators
Where It's Used: Forms the core refrigerant circuit-evaporator coils (inside cooling unit), condenser coils (heat dissipation), and all connecting lines.
Why It's Better:
Efficiency: Higher thermal conductivity vs. TP2 means better heat transfer for lower energy use.
Reliability: Excellent for bending and brazing, ensuring leak-proof joints in compact designs.
Durability: More corrosion-resistant and robust than aluminum, preventing pinhole leaks.

C12000 vs C12200
| Characteristic | C12000 (Low-Residual Phosphorus) | C12200 (Standard Phosphorus) |
|---|---|---|
| Equivalent Chinese Grade | TP1 | TP2 |
| Phosphorus (P) Content | Low (0.004% – 0.012%) | Higher (0.015% – 0.040%) |
| Primary Distinction | Superior Electrical & Thermal Conductivity (closest to pure copper among deoxidized grades) | Excellent Brazability & General Corrosion Resistance (the industry workhorse) |
| Key Advantage | Maximized heat transfer efficiency. Ideal for performance-critical heat exchange. | Outstanding for soldering/brazing; reliable and cost-effective for most applications. |
| Typical Applications | • High-efficiency condensers & evaporators • Electrical busbars & components • Premium refrigeration lines |
• Standard plumbing & heating tubes (ASTM B88) • General ACR tubing (ASTM B280) • Industrial process pipes • Most common copper water tubes |
| Conductivity | Approx. 100% IACS (very high) | Approx. 85-90% IACS (slightly lower due to P) |
| Brazing/Soldering | Excellent (P acts as a deoxidizer) | Excellent to Superior (higher P provides excellent oxide-free surfaces) |
| Cost & Availability | Generally slightly higher cost; readily available for technical applications | Most common and cost-effective; widely available in all standard forms |

FAQ
Q: What is the main difference between TP1 and TP2?
A: TP1 has lower phosphorus content (0.005-0.012% vs. 0.015-0.040% in TP2), offering higher conductivity, but its welding performance is slightly inferior to TP2.
Q: Is TP1 suitable for drinking water pipelines?
A: It must comply with GB/T 18033-2017 standards and pass migration testing for lead, arsenic, and other elements.
Q: How should TP1 be treated after cold working?
A: After cold work hardening, it should be annealed to restore ductility, with a recommended temperature of 500-600°C.
