ASTM B11 specifies that copper tubing shall be produced by casting, extruding, drawing, annealing, straightening, and trimming, and shall be capable of being produced as seamless tubing under specified conditions. Copper and copper alloys shall be supplied in any of the following states: annealed, lightly drawn, hard drawn or hard drawn followed by final annealing. Copper tubing for ferrule blanks shall be fully annealed for complete crystallization. Products shall be tested for expansion, compression and residual stress. Tensile and expansion requirements for copper water tubing are specified in accordance with the tempering designation. Copper straight tubing shall also be tested for mercury nitrite, ammonia vapor, eddy current, hydrostatic pressure and pneumatic testing.
