C17000 beryllium copper contains 1.80-2.0% beryllium and 0.2-0.6% cobalt. It also has copper as a base metal, as well as trace amounts of iron and nickel. This alloy has excellent machinable properties, making it ideal for parts that require complex shapes and designs.

Copper beryllium alloys can be age hardened or precipitation hardened to obtain high strength. The as-cast alloy contains dendrite structure of α-copper and beryllide phases. The microstructure of the deformed alloy is α-copper twin with dispersed cobalt, nickel or cobalt-nickel beryllide particles.
