What is a C70600 copper nickel tube?
C70600 copper-nickel alloy is mainly composed of copper, nickel, and small amounts of chromium, iron, and manganese. Its nickel content is typically 10-30%, while the chromium content is lower, usually around 1-2%. Due to the addition of nickel, the alloy not only has good resistance to seawater corrosion but also maintains strong oxidation resistance at high temperatures. This alloy exhibits good thermal conductivity, low expansion, and high tensile strength, making it widely used in many engineering projects requiring high strength and corrosion resistance.
Corrosion Resistance
The outstanding characteristic of C70600 copper-nickel alloy is its excellent corrosion resistance, especially its strong resistance to corrosion in seawater. Its corrosion resistance mechanism is mainly attributed to the role of nickel, which forms a dense nickel-copper alloy compound on the surface of the copper matrix, preventing the intrusion of corrosive media.
Furthermore, this alloy exhibits strong resistance to chlorides, acidic solutions, and oxidizing media, making it suitable for harsh environments such as chemical equipment, offshore platforms, and oil drilling.
