C68700 Aluminum Brass Tube PDF
Products Description
C68700 is a wrought alloy based on copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn), with the key alloying element aluminum (Al) added. It typically also contains trace amounts of arsenic (As) or tin (Sn) to further enhance corrosion resistance. Its name reflects the main alloying elements: approximately 76% copper (Cu), approximately 22% zinc (Zn), and a core of 1.8–2.5% aluminum (Al). The addition of aluminum forms a dense, robust, and self-healing alumina (Al₂O₃) protective film on the alloy surface, which is the fundamental reason for its excellent resistance to seawater corrosion. It belongs to the "Naval Brass" family and is specifically designed to withstand harsh marine environments.
Customer Visit & Project Reference – India
We successfully supplied ASTM B111 C68700 aluminum brass tubes to a customer in India for shell & tube condenser applications. During the project, the customer visited our facility for production inspection and quality verification. All tubes were manufactured in accordance with ASTM B111 requirements and delivered with complete Material Test Certificates (MTC), ensuring full heat number traceability and verified chemical and mechanical properties.

How To Test Astm B111 C68700 Tubes
Ensuring the quality and reliability of ASTM B111 C68700 Tubes is crucial. Here are some common testing methods:
Hydrostatic testing: Checks for leaks and verifies the tube's ability to withstand pressure.
Ultrasonic testing: Detects internal flaws or defects that could compromise performance.
Eddy Current testing: Evaluates the tube's surface and subsurface integrity.
Mechanical testing: Measures tensile strength, hardness, and elongation to ensure compliance with ASTM standards.
Typical Application Scenarios
Thanks to its comprehensive performance, the C68700 is widely used in the following fields:
1. Marine Engineering: Ship parts, seawater piping systems, condenser tubes, etc., with outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion.
2. Energy and Chemical Industry: Heat exchangers, valve assemblies, pump housings, etc., suitable for weak acid and weak alkali environments.
3. Power Electronics: Conductive terminals, heat dissipation components, balancing conductivity requirements and structural strength.
4. Architectural Decoration: Weather-resistant curtain wall supports, hardware, combining aesthetics and durability.
