Copper tubes are mainly divided into three categories: phosphorus deoxidized copper tubes, copper tubes, and oxygen-free copper tubes. Let's briefly introduce them.
TP2 is phosphorus deoxidized copper. The national standard for copper is 99.90%, but about 0.015% phosphorus is added during the smelting process. The purpose is to improve the welding performance of copper tubes. It is mainly used for products with more air-conditioning welding to avoid "hydrogen embrittlement" and is easier to weld than T2.
Because phosphorus is added to TP2 materials, TP2 has relatively large ductility and is widely used in the manufacturing of air-conditioning refrigeration connecting pipes, stove gas connecting pipes, and electric heating pipes.
T2 is pure copper, with a copper content of more than 99.90%. When users have high requirements for material conductivity, T2 copper tubes will be the first choice.
TU1 is oxygen-free copper. Simply put, it is a kind of copper with a higher purity, with a copper content of ≥99.97%, very low oxygen and impurity content, and a phosphorus content of less than 0.002%. It has excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, good ductility, and good processing performance, weldability, corrosion resistance, and cold resistance. At the same time, due to the significant reduction in the number of second-phase particles inside the TU1 grains and outside the grain boundaries, the organizational consistency of TU1 is much better than that of TP2, so the ductility of TU1 is greatly enhanced. The enhancement of ductility brings better processing consistency. It should be known that both ends of the connecting pipe must be expanded. Expanding is actually to form a bell mouth by pultrusion and deformation of the original copper tube material. The uniformity of strain distribution of TU1 has obvious advantages over TP2. That is to say, if TU1 material is used to make the connecting pipe, the expansion process will be more stable and reliable, and the sealing performance of the connecting pipe will be more stable. Due to its high production requirements and high cost, its product price is much higher than other types of copper tubes.
Generally, the processed copper tubes are mainly divided into three types: hard, semi-hard, and soft. The flexibility of different forms is also different. Generally, it can be judged by bending the copper tube. High-quality copper tubes are easy to bend, but if it is difficult to bend or cracks appear after bending, it means that the quality of the copper tube is not very good.
