C71500, also known as copper-nickel alloy, is a wrought copper alloy primarily consisting of copper, nickel, and a small amount of iron. The proportion of copper in C71500 varies between 65% and 70%, nickel between 30% and 35%, and iron is present in small quantities of about 0.4%. C71500 also has trace amounts of manganese and silicon. Because of its nickel content, C71500 falls under nickel-copper alloys.

C71500 has a density of 8.94 grams per cubic centimetre, slightly higher than pure copper. It has an electrical conductivity of about 3% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard). Its thermal conductivity is 40 W/m·K, lower than pure copper. C71500 exhibits excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting corrosion.

C71500 is widely used in marine and chemical processing industries. Its excellent corrosion resistance is ideal for seawater cooling systems and marine applications. Its high strength and hardness make it ideal for valve bodies, pump bodies, and other high-stress machinery parts. C71500 is also used in heat exchangers, condensers, and other applications that demand excellent heat transfer and resistance to fouling.

C71500 has a good hardness of about 120 HV, higher than pure copper. Its high hardness makes it resistant to wear and deformation, making it ideal for high-stress applications.

C71500 does not require any heat treatment for strength enhancement. However, it can be annealed for stress relief and improved machinability. During annealing, the alloy is heated to a temperature between 620 and 760°C, cooled slowly in air or water, and then tempered at room temperature.

C71500 can be readily welded using various methods, including gas tungsten arc welding and gas metal arc welding. It is essential to clean the surface and use a suitable filler metal to prevent porosity and cracking.

C71500 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, especially in seawater and other saline environments. It has good resistance to crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and pitting. Its corrosion resistance makes it suitable for marine applications, chemical processing industries, and oil and gas exploration.
