Beryllium copper (BeCu) alloy C17200, also known as Alloy 25, has very good electrical and thermal conductivity and is very ductile. It is often used in components that require high strength and conductivity, such as musical instruments, precision measuring equipment, bullets, and aerospace.
Beryllium copper is a ductile, weldable, machinable alloy. Like pure copper, it is resistant to non-oxidizing acids (such as hydrochloric and carbonic acids) and plastic decomposition products, and is resistant to wear and seizure. It can be heat treated to increase strength, durability, and conductivity.
Beryllium copper is a nonferrous alloy used to make springs, spring wire, load cells, and other parts that must maintain their shape under repeated stress and strain. It is highly conductive and is used to make low-current contacts for batteries and electrical connectors.
C17200 provides effective corrosion resistance when exposed to harsh conditions such as seawater and downhole environments. It can withstand sulfide or chloride stress corrosion cracking and resist the effects of carbon dioxide and hydrogen embrittlement.
Copper alloys are generally considered non-sparking. C17200 has the strength to withstand use by hand and machine tools. These non-sparking properties are best suited for use in explosive environments such as the oil and gas and pyrotechnic industries.

Beryllium copper is used in some percussion instruments, especially tambourines and triangles, because of its consistent tone and resonance.
Ultra-low temperature cryogenic equipment, because of its mechanical strength and relatively high thermal conductivity in this temperature range.
Molds for making plastic containers (including most plastic milk jugs) using the blow molding process.
Measurement while drilling (MWD) tools in the directional drilling industry. Non-magnetic alloys are needed because magnetometers are used for field strength data received from the tool.
Repairing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines, where high-intensity magnetic fields make it dangerous to use iron tools, and magnetic materials in the field interfere with the images.
Beryllium copper wire is produced in a variety of forms: round, square, flat and shaped, coils, spools, and straight lengths.
Beryllium copper valve seats and guides are used in high-performance four-stroke engines with coated titanium valves. BeCu alloys dissipate heat from the valves seven times faster than powdered steel or iron valve seats and guides. The softer BeCu alloy reduces valve wear and extends valve life.
